Gin Mojito

If you think gin is just for old men, think again. Since gin is made from botanicals it actually lends itself to being the best liquor to mix with herbs, citrus, and other fresh ingredients. Gin seems to enhance the flavors of whatever you put with it and when it comes to craft cocktails that is a beautiful quality. Always in the mood for mint, I decided to try my hand at a gin mojito and my-oh-my what a delightful twist on this summer favorite. Cheers to summer sun and days spent by the sea, now enjoy one of these on me!

Gin Mojito

6-10 fresh mint leaves

1 lime, juiced and zested

3 oz gin (I use St. George’s Botanivore Gin)

1 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

Club Soda

Mint to garnish

Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, muddle mint leaves with lime juice and lime zest. Add ice to shaker along with gin and St. Germain. Shake vigorously. Strain mixture over ice into a highball glass. (I like some of the mint pieces in my drink so I do pour some of them in my glass.) Top with club soda and stir. Garnish with mint.
