A popular menu item out west, the prickly pear is named for its pear-like shape and size, this fruit comes from any of several varieties of cacti. Prickly pear has a sweet, but not overly sweet flavor that will take your margarita to the next level. It actually pairs very well with a little spice so if you like the heat throw in a jalapeño too.
Prickly Pear Margarita
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- 2 oz freshly-squeezed lime juice
- 3 oz Grand Mayan Reposado Tequila
- 1 ounce Cheri’s Prickly Pear Cactus Syrup
- Pinch of salt
- Lime wedges for garnish
Directions:
In a blender, add crushed ice, lime juice, tequila, prickly pear syrup, and salt; cover and pulsate 4 or 5 times. Taste and adjust with syrup or lime juice according to your taste.
Serve in salt rimmed glasses with a lime slice, and serve immediately.
